Point of Purchase (POP) Printer of the Year 2009 |
|
Augustus Martin Ltd won Point of Purchase (POP) printer of the year at this
years PrintWeek Awards. The highly prestigious quality awards for the
printing industry was held on Monday 19th October 2009.
“It's third-time lucky for Augustus Martin as it walks off with the top
point-of-purchase prize after twice finishing as a runner-up in the
category. Such was the impact of the motorised Ferris wheel display
that the judges in the innovative print category tried to nominate it
for their top spot as well! This stunning and innovative display gave
Augustus Martin the edge as the most effective piece for quality and
impact. The client wanted to create ‘theatre' in-store by producing a
fully-working, double-sided Ferris wheel display unit and Augustus
Martin delivered 100% on that goal, coming up with a piece that
"immediately stands out in this category".
"Due to the complexity of the
unit, the printer worked closely with the client to produce a blank
prototype. This ensured that suitable materials were used to enable the
wheel to revolve correctly, while generating maximum impact. The unit
was digitally printed onto 2,000 micron display boards using Augustus
Martin's Inca Onset and then matt laminated. The Ferris wheel and pods
were printed digitally on 10mm foamcore. The display was then CAD-cut
and assembled, including a motor and batteries. The client reportedly
"thrilled" with the outcome, as were the judges, who summed up the
breadth of the entry as simply "the best - and by a long way".”
Augustus Martin was also runner-up in the Poster Printer of the Year.
“Augustus Martin has repeated its success of the past two years, making
it three years in a row with this commendation. Its posters really
stood out and impressed the judges with its bright vibrant colours
alongside natural-looking content.”
